GRAVHOUNDS Guide

All 5 Gravhounds and Their Abilities

Updated · Hounds

Quick answer

Early Access has 5 Gravhounds, each with one special ability. Zane: Bark sends nearby enemies flying (plus a little damage). Finn: Play Dead drops you to recover health and traps nearby enemies in a temporal bubble. Dozer: bone bombs. Selene: Fetch, a thrown disc you can teleport to. Luna is new in Early Access and her kit isn't documented yet. There's no stat-based best pick. Choose by role: Zane to protect the base, Finn to survive, Dozer for area damage, Selene to move fast.

The Gravhounds on an alien planet

The five hounds

Hound Ability What it does
Zane Bark “Send nearby enemies flying with your powerful voice.” Knockback in a radius. Since the demo it also deals a small amount of damage
Finn Play Dead “Drop to the ground to recover health while trapping nearby enemies in a temporal bubble.” Reworked before the demo: you’re invulnerable and heal faster while down, then the bubble traps enemies when you get up
Dozer Bone bombs Area explosives (“I’m going to be Dozer cuz I love bombs”, as one streamer put it) ⚠️ exact card text not captured yet
Selene Fetch Throws a disc. Press the ability again to teleport to the disc. You can fire while it’s active (demo change)
Luna Not documented yet New fifth hound in Early Access ⚠️

The two quotes are the in-game ability text from the character select screen on November 4. We’ll add Dozer’s, Selene’s and Luna’s exact text once we’ve read them on screen.

Their personalities

The select screen gives each hound a short bio. Two we’ve read:

The demo roster was Selene, Zane, Dozer and Finn. Luna joined for Early Access.

Training: each hound levels separately

Every hound has its own XP (0 / 10,000 at the start) and its own five Training stats in the Research Lab:

Stat Effect
Health More survivability
Movement Speed Moves faster
Boosters More booster capacity and recharge
Mods Shorter Showstopper cooldowns
Mining Faster mining and more yield

That means your main hound gets stronger than the others the more you play it. Details: Research Lab.

Which hound for which job

Job in the pack Pick Why
Base defender Zane Bark knocks the swarm off turrets and teammates
Solo / survival Finn Play Dead is a self-revive with crowd control. Invulnerable while down
Damage Dozer Bombs add area damage on top of your weapon
Runner (resources, revives, POIs) Selene Fetch teleport covers distance and escapes
Trying something new Luna Her kit isn’t covered anywhere yet

This is our reading of each ability, not tested numbers. Hounds use the same weapons and mods, so your deck matters as much as your dog.

FAQ

Who is the best Gravhound?

There's no official stat sheet, and every hound uses the same weapons and mods. Pick by job: Zane's Bark protects the base and teammates, Finn's Play Dead is the strongest self-rescue, Dozer's bombs add area damage, and Selene's Fetch is the best mobility. In Octopus Panic's open playtest, Zane was the most popular hound, picked by about 30% of players.

How do you unlock Luna?

Luna is the fifth hound, new in Early Access (the demo had four). We haven't confirmed whether she's available from the start or unlocks later. In the launch-week stream we watched, a player switched to Luna in the lobby.

Do hounds have different stats?

Each hound has its own XP and Training stats (Health, Movement Speed, Boosters, Mods, Mining) that you raise as that hound levels up. The character select screen shows a bar for each.

Can two players pick the same hound?

In the co-op lobbies we watched, each player picked a different hound. We haven't confirmed whether duplicates are blocked.
